I've just ordered an AOC Q27G3XMN from amazon, but as I live in europe I think I'll be getting the BK edition which I've heard has some sort of firmware issue that makes it much worse than the non BK version thst only exists in America. Would someome mind filling me in on the problems with the BK version and whether or not if there are any ways to fix its issues?

FYI, I’ve had this since release. It was my 5th 49” from Samsung and 6th 49” overall. While it’s fast - issues are many. Built in menus are similar to TV, very hard to work with and sluggish. Even with service remote. Input changing is laggy. The screen is super light for its size and gimmick light at the back is cool. macOS support - give up. At least on m1 Mac’s. Last week the panel just went all white wash and stopped working. Samsung customer service is a nightmare even though im under their premium smth warranty. This is the last time I invest in a Samsung monitor. Their reliability is non-existent. For premium product like this one - I expect better treatment than having to take this monstrosity to a 3rd party service center on a workday.

Got this monitor today, got tired of waiting for the Gigabyte one with DP 2.1 honestly I like the Asus better but at the same price I would chose the better connectivity but then I thought about it and I’m a single player enjoyer not competitive at all I love ARPG’s so visuals are all for me. My question is I would I be fine by not having DP 2.1 for the future or me not caring about competitive gaming should be fine? I have a 4090 and will skip the 5000 series until 6000 series.

Question. I've looked at some VA panels and they have all been very bad, how is it possible to recommend that technology for any screens? They are not sharp when looking at the panels straight on, or has something changed? weird lighting etc.

Thanks for this guide, it's a small thing but no help online points out using the wrong port, I've used laptops all my life so when I got my PC I was putting the HDMI in the wrong port and the monitor was getting no signal. Google would just tell you to check it's in properly and I wondered if I got the wrong port but my graphics card ports blend in very well so I missed them

For anyone interested, it's had a firmware update and it's still super slow, still has atrocious black smearing which is noticeable even on the desktop and web browsing, and the HDR is still really bad in dark games.

I love my AW DWF but the one thing I do notice is if I leave it in HDR mode of any kind the blacks are more gray. So when I am just using youtube or surfing the web I just turn HDR off and the blacks are great. I also use Windows themes to have a dark set of backgrounds that change on their own to help minimise any static content. I even move my open window around the screen to help with that. I got mine for $750 from Dell on sale so I am hoping it will last a while.

I wish Alienware wasn't removing 3.5mm jacks from their monitors. I'm interested in these for rhythm games as the high refresh and motion clarity would be awesome. For PC, it's fine because I can use the headphone jack on my PC. But for console games it's a pain. The headphone jack on the monitor is usually the easiest, low latency way to get console audio (since they don't have optical audio ports anymore - and the controller headphone jack usually has more latency) without finding/testing/using an HDMI audio extractor, or a full home theater receiver's headphone jack - which are all a bit overkill compared to just having a headphone jack on the monitor.

Does it run on 144 Hz at 4k ?

Actually, I kind of like that MSI forces you to use panel protect after 16 hours. It's very easy to start putting something like that off, and once you get into the habit of ignoring the warnings, you will start to forget that they're even there, in the same way that people stop hearing the low battery warning beep on their fire alarms if they ignore it for long enough. If you do that with an OLED monitor, it will dramatically shorten its lifespan, which is not something you want to happen on a $1000 monitor.

What would be a good middle ground for competitive and single player games?

In Germany, MSI mpg and aorus FO32U2P are at the same price. MSI has more adjustments in oled care and faster firmware up but aorus has dp 2.1 and maybe a better construction with more metal? at same price, whats your pick?

I really really hope Alienware brings a 38 or 39 Inch-Version of the AW3423DWF with 3840x1600. That would be THE perfect Monitor for me for gaming and productive work. I'm using my AW3423DWF now for a year with heavy usage in productive work (at least 9 hours/day) and after that another few hours with gaming - and so far no problems at all. :) If ever Alienware does me this favour its an insta-buy for me.

I am wanting to get the LG 32GS95UE but I saw a review of it say that the matte coating makes the image worse grainy/blurry. The sole reason I am going for an OLED is for that clearness but if at 480hz I see nothing but grain it would be heartbreaking.
